BIOGRAPHY

Markilo Allen’s life has been a continuous cycle of redemption and restoration. With music instilled in him at an early age, the rapper found himself with a healthy amount of success in the secular realm early on in his career. After a while, Markilo started to feel empty. With no internal satisfaction, he began to dive into a world that he’d known growing up. With the help of his mother and church community, Markilo Allen switched gears and started to take his music to new, more faith-based levels. With the change came not only praise from fans but himself as well. Now he’s looking to praise God and lift up the name of Jesus as a Christian rapper delivering songs for the kingdom.

“The Lord had called me to rap for His kingdom, and I fought Him on it for a while, but finally gave into His will,” says Markilo. While being a musician is his career, his goal is to continue to be a positive role model for his children. Diligently studying God’s word every single day has strengthened Markilo’s ability to proclaim the Bible’s message clearly and effectively through music.

To date Markilo Allen has released six records, including three mixtapes; More of Him, The Story Behind My Praise, Spiritual Mixtape Vol.1, Spiritual Mixtape Vol.2, It’s All His Pt.1, and Seed Season. Currently, he has plans to drop two new original studio albums in 2019. All in all, he’s sold over 10,000 albums independently out of the trunk of his SUV and at shows that include hundreds of churches and venues around the country. From the Sonshine Festival and the mega-church in Los Angeles, California; the Crenshaw Christian Center Faithdome.

“My lyrics can be understood, that is why the older fan base likes it. I can also freestyle, so the younger base likes me as well. My music is a little more musical and melodic because my grandfather was the lead singer of the gospel quartet group the, Heaven Bound Traverlers, which was the type of gospel music I grew up on. The personal place from which I write my songs allows them to standout and be more relatable.”

Capturing the human experience is what Markilo Allen does best in his music. With his ability to showcase universal ideas, people from all walks of life can relate. Whether it’s to “Jesus,” a song about how far God has brought him due to God’s love to “My Life,” another song that could be attributed to many peoples’ lives. He notes of this song, “‘My Life’ which speaks about how I thought life was about what I wanted and what I needed, then coming to realize that my life had been bought with the precious blood of Jesus, and therefore my life is and should be all about Him and the uplifting of His kingdom till the day I die.”

Markilo Allen will continue to work towards being the best ambassador for Jesus that he can be. Markilo gives his all day in and day out for the Lord. When he is called home, he wants to hear his Heavenly Father say, “son job well done”.
